Susan Carpenter:
Susan Carpenter is a mediator, family relationship coach, parent educator, parenting consultant and parenting time expeditor in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Susan helps families strengthen family relationships and build connections through healthy communication and parent-child interactions. Susan has experience as a rule 114 qualified neutral and is listed on the Minnesota Supreme Court's ADR Roster which is invaluable to her clients who need support with family conflict. Family Dynamics: No family is perfect. Families are made up of unique and special individuals with different perspectives, needs and levels of resilience. Because of this family conflict is a common occurrence. Some families can effectively resolve conflict while others might need help. Personal Experience: Susan has a unique background that grew out of personal experience. As an adult child of dysfunction and a parent involved in high conflict divorce, Susan found that many professionals in legal systems aren't well equipped to understand high conflict, childhood trauma and family dysfunction. Some professionals are very knowledgeable psychologists but fail to understand what is expected of divorced parents from the family court legal perspective. Others understood the legal piece of divorce with children but did not understand the impact of family or childhood trauma on custody and parenting time agreements. Susan saw there was a gap in professional awareness and a lack of individual support for parents in conflict. She sought to fill that gap and set out to provide much needed support for parents. Credentials: For more than 24 years, Susan has offered support and knowledge to parents trying to break cycles of abuse or dysfunction. During that time, she worked with families through different career paths. Susan earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and trained to be an ADR (alternative Dispute Resolution) professional working as a mediator, parenting consultant and parenting time expeditor. However, what Susan found the most helpful to parents was coaching and education. Susan now holds a master's degree in family education and is a licensed parent educator in Minnesota. Individual, Joint and Family Coaching: Coaching and learning are not for divorced parents alone. Many adults struggle with relationships in general. Those who grew up in abusive or unsupportive childhood homes are not sure how to build healthy relationships. Susan's classes and one-on-one coaching can help you stop guessing at what is normal and healthy so you can understand what a healthy relationship should feel like. Making this positive change can redefine or rebuild relationships, parenting and even career paths! Coaching not only helps you gain confidence, improve communication and resolve conflict in more effective ways, it also helps to decrease the amount of stress you experience. If you have experienced trauma, abuse, or an alcoholic or emotionally unavailable parent or partner, you may need some guidance to overcome that. Susan can help with that work. Couples can receive coaching jointly, separately or in combination, to strengthen relationship skills or build a co-parenting relationship after divorce. There is no additional cost for couples coaching. However, when a family of three or more seeks coaching, additional costs may occur. Classes and Webinars: Susan loves to teach. Her current focus is creating online courses and webinars for family and relationship skill building, but Susan still has a passion to help families move beyond high conflict divorce. If you have tried other methods for moving forward but remain stuck, connect with Susan and see where this journey can lead. Classes and webinars are held through www.stillfamily.love. |
